Known as the "luckiest fishing village", Destin is the home to some of the best saltwater fishing in the United States. The 100 Fathom  (600' depth) Curve of the Gulf of Mexico
draws closer to Destin than any other spot in Florida. This, along  with  Destin's close  proximity  to  the East  Pass  and  the Gulf  of Mexico, allows quick access to the Gulf of

General Camping rules. (See the Jackson Guard Map/Regulations for full up to date details)
+  You must check with Jackson Guard and get a camping permit. The Eglin permit will specify which specific campsite it is
   good for.
+  Camping in other areas prohibited.
+  Camping is permitted up to 5 consecutive nights, no more than 10 people,including children.
+  Campers, trailers, or other vehicles used for camping shall be parked at the designated campsites only.
+  All campsites on Eglin are PRIMITIVE, ie no potable water, trash pickup, electricity available. You must remove all garbage.
+  Quiet period from 10:00pm to 6:00AM. No loud radios, tvs, musical instruments, etc
+  All fires will be contained in stoves, grill, fireplaces, or fire rings. All fires must be extinguished ("dead out") before being left
  unattended.
+  Cutting live wood for use in camping areas is prohibited. Wood that is dead may be gathered for use in campfires.
+  Firearms, bows, fireworks, and explosive divices are prohibited at campsites except during specified hunting seasons.

Eglin Air Force Base comprises 463,128 acres of the
panhandle of Florida, or a little over 2/3 the size of the state of
Rhode Island. There are several active military areas on this
acreage - Eglin AFB main, Hurlburt Field, Duke Field, Camp
Rudder, 7th Special Forces, EOD school, and the numerous
bombing and test ranges. These active military portions are
restricted from general public use. However, much of the land
on Eglin is open for use by the public.

Public use of the Eglin AFB natural resources is controlled by
the Natural Resource Office of Eglin AFB, better known as
JACKSON GUARD. They are located "off-base" in Niceville,
next to the Eglin Golf Course
